Dodge VIN decoder
Dodge VIN decoder
Dodge’s Charger and Challenger muscle cars were built in Brampton, Ontario, so their VINs start with 2C3. The Durango comes from Detroit. Dodge trucks became the separate Ram brand in 2010, so older pickups still decode as Dodge.

Where to find the VIN on a Dodge
- Lower corner of the windshield on the driver’s side, readable from outside the car
- Sticker or plate on the driver’s door jamb (open the door)
- Title, registration card and insurance card

How do I decode the engine in a Dodge VIN?
The engine is coded in the descriptor section (positions 4–8). Decode the VIN above to see the engine recorded for it, such as the 5.7L or 6.4L HEMI.
Is a pre-2011 Ram a Dodge?
Yes. Ram trucks were sold as Dodge Ram until Ram became its own brand, so older trucks decode with Dodge WMIs.
Is the Dodge VIN decoder free?
Yes. Decoding a Dodge VIN is free. A full VinCode report with title brands, accidents, odometer readings and owners costs $5.99.
Does a Dodge VIN show accident history?
No. The VIN only encodes how the vehicle was built. Accident, damage and title history come from records reported for the VIN, which is what the VinCode report shows.
